Saw your video on credit cards and online shopping that you posted up on your travel blog. Thanks for checking into things! Interesting system...Hope that your travels are fruitful and you're having a good time with your family. Its good to hear about the insights and development between Costa Rica and Panama. Hey Alan,

Great question, this is something I have been wondering myself. As you said
a lot of people are still not purchasing online or even online.

When I am there I will see if I can find any business that do online
payments. I will be interested to see if there are any creative solutions to
the problem you mentioned.

Hey Nelson,

I was interested in what payment processing software people are using, and how folks are able to make payments online there? Working here in Chile, there is a significant group of folks without access to bank accounts or credit cards, and with paypal not being an option as well, there seems little opportunity for a lot of folks to participate fully in the online market. This is not necessarily aimed at the less than $2 a day crowd, but many folks not technically even close to a true poverty level are held out of the credit and banking world, and I wonder what you might uncover as to how online businesses there are trying to get around it or solve the problem.

I am interested in knowing what poor people perceive as their largest risks. I am working with a network of microfinance institutions on a project to promote microinsurance (accessible insurance for the poor). I can give you more guidance if you are interested. Barbara

I could not agree more. I think the only way process innovation gets front billing is is you can prove there are more costs in the process than in the product. Any studies done to that note?
